Lissa
Gray lived in Winchester for the first five years of her life
before
moving to London where she attended Sutton High School, on leaving
school she entered the Guildhall School of Music on a scholarship
where she
studied singing, piano and ballet. After leaving college Lissa
started work touring for 6 months in a musical where she understudied
the lead before returning to London to work as a session singer
and a choral member of various choirs. Lissa booked recording
session
groups for some years both singing and conducting and then moved
to the BBC singers for a year.
Lissa left in order to concentrate on her solo career. Recitals
for Radio 3 and programmes such as ‘Friday Night is Music
Night’, where she was guest artist, together with opera and
oratario work followed.
Lissa travelled widely singing in Hong Kong, West Indies, Russia
as well as Europe, working with various opera companies and as
a recitalist. Now married with two children, she teaches in Hampshire
and in London.
Lissa is the Director of ‘Hampshire Children’s Choir’ and ‘The
Boys Choir’ and she founded ‘The National Children’s
Choir’ in 1998.
